Mel Howell is a MSI Board Member and helps with various projects while also holding a position as the Executive Director of Heart of Compassion Partnerships in Chesapeake, VA.
Mel’s success as a Fortune 500 company executive enabled him to retire at a young age. His business acumen and achievements came as a result of his expertise in business processes and supply chain management. This led him to travel around the world helping businesses achieve success.
Mr. Howell is a veteran who served 4 years with the United States Army. He began his civilian career with the former Union Camp Corporation where he held a number of key roles. Mel was the plant manager at Union Camp’s Particleboard plant in Franklin, Virginia for five years before accepting a position as a supply chain consultant with International Paper in Memphis, TN.
Mel retired from the business world in 2007 and began his new career as a charity worker with Hope Charitable Services. Then in 2008, he was asked to join Heart of Compassion Partnerships as Executive Director.
Mel is a single parent of twin girls, Navia and Kiara who are students at Norfolk State University. He and his family live in Chesapeake, Virginia.
